There are too many Johnny Depps in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End " and much more Keira Knightley than you were expecting -- so much so that the actress becomes the movie's indisputable star.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" has had quite a ride, and I wouldn't bet that it's over, despite the seeming finality of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," the most visually spectacular, action-packed and surreal of the adventures of Capt. Jack Sparrow.
Michael Wilmington
San Francisco Chronicle
The competition is enormous, but with "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," a case could be made for "Pirates" as the worst film series since Thomas Edison got the wacky idea that pictures could move.
Mick LaSalle
Seattle Post-Intelligencer
The fate of its sequel is likely to be similar, because this third edition of the "Pirates" franchise, subtitled "At World's End," does an even better job of fulfilling its function as a movie version of the theme-park ride and putting every penny of its $200 million budget on the screen. The audience will come.
