Best Reality TV Shows
Written: 12-31-2011
The best reality TV shows are Amazing Race, American Idol, and So You Think You Can Dance. Why? Because they offer great entertainment and
content that the whole family can watch. All three have been around for several seasons and continue to keep viewers watching and coming back for more.
Here is a short summary of each reality show and why they are worth watching.
Amazing Race TV Show is pure fun. I think the reason it does so well is you get multiple forms of
entertainment. You get to see different places and cultures around the world plus you get to watch how couples, friends, and family react in stressful situations.
I think many fans often picture themselves in the race which creates an instant connection with the show. I myself have often thought of how I would do on the
show. It is also provide similar challenges as survivor without the back-biting and lying. One of the reasons why I like Amazing Race over Survivor.
American Idol TV Show is the ultimate singing contest. I simply love the music. Often the producers
get top talent to help the contestants with both showmanship and singing. Anything from Will-i-am, to Lady Gaga, to Neil Diamond have been on the show. If you
love music, which most of us do, you can find something to like about American Idol.
So You Think You Can Dance airs in the summer. This is why it is in my top 3 reality TV show list.
Summer is usually full of reruns, but FOX airs this dance competition which captures those that like both music and dance. It has the feel of American Idol
as the viewers vote for the best dancers, but also has the added component of dance. Even though I don't know much about dance, I find myself enjoying each of the different
genres. Everything from Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballroom to Bollywood. It will capture your attention and hook you from the beginning.
You might ask about The Bachelor or Survivor reality shows?
The Bachelor is too much for me. It is one of the longest running reality showa which does say something. I just see a lot of problems with picking a wife from a pool of women.
I use to watch Survivor, but the winner almost always had to back-stab someone. All the lying and back-biting eventually turned me off from the show.
I did love the challenges and watching typical people (like me) out in the middle of no where.
Ultimately, the best reality TV shows are ones which you can leave feeling good about the winner and something which the whole family can watch. Amazing Race,
American Idol, and So You Think You Can Dance are these types of shows. I put these 3 as my favorite and highly recommend them.

I have a non HD receiver in my home that I purchased outright from DISH. I didn't want to pay a recurring fee every month to keep my cost down. I would like to add a few additional TVs (upstair bedrooms). I called Dish to ask how much the receivers were and that I was again interested in paying for them outright. They gave me a good price for a dual and standard so I could hook up an additional 3 TVs in the home. When I decided to go for it, they informed me that I would have to pay an additional $28.00 per month (more than half my monthly bill already) to have these TVs connected and to receive signal.
