Reviews of Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV Show

Pop Matters
With so much going for it, why isn't Buffy the hottest show on television? The UPN premiere was a ratings success, and the show was also considered a consistent success on the WB. Yet, when given the opportunity to purchase the show this past year, NBC, CBS, and ABC all passed for fear that Buffy was a cult hit that wouldn't appeal to a "broad" audience. Perhaps, but its consistent excellence makes it worthy of a larger audience than UPN can provide.

DVD Town
What’s so special about a show that chronicles the exploits of a young girl who goes around killing monsters? Like anything else, "Buffy" would be boring if it adhered closely to a one-line marketing pitch. The genius of the show lies in series creator/executive producer Joss Whedon’s wonderful imagination. Whedon parallels Buffy’s travails with those of an adolescent’s reactions to growing up in a harsh world.

DVD Verdict
Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to be, week in and week out, the best written show on television. Now, I will admit that is not always evident with the first season's batch of episodes, but to fair the show was trying to find its footing. Still, it is worth noting that while the terrain may have been bumpy that first year, its voice was already pretty clear.

Reel
Regardless, the episodes presented here stand on their own. Buffy the Vampire Slayer may be one of the strongest programs to be found on TV today, and this DVD collection reminds us that it started out that way as well. You might say it's the "chosen one" of modern genre television.

Alias TV Show
Alias features Sydney Bristow who was recruited as a college freshman for espionage work, however
she found her true calling with SD-6, a secret division of the CIA. When
her boyfriend proposes to her, she decides to let him in
on the truth. She confesses she is a secret agent who
lives a double life full of adventure and danger.
CSI TV Show
CSI is a huge success and quickly took
the top spot on prime time television. CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)
uses graphic images to
display clues of the investigation process.
Seinfeld TV Show
was probably the most popular
comedy TV show of the nineties. It seemed to connect with the
nothingness of every day life. Maybe the reason it was so funny,
is that everyone could relate to at least a few episodes.
Friends TV Show
Friends was one of the most popular prime time shows of all
time. More than 52 million people tuned in for the series final episode.
Friends has developed into television's most beloved comfort show.
