Reviews of Friends Season 1 DVD

DVD Review
The combination of "Friends" and "Seinfeld" made for a wealth of copy-cats
boasting attractive young, single people who discussed nothing and everything at once.
Yet, those shows never really got it right - whether it was an issue with cast or a show
that really put crafting jokes before crafting characters, "Friends" remains the only one
of these shows left on the air - not only that, it's even more successful now than it ever was.

DVD Town
After watching the first season again, I realized just how good the show
was right off the bat. “Friends” hit the ground running, and that’s why each episode
from Season 1 seems so familiar--they made strong impressions upon first viewing. The
characters are so well-written that they have distinct personalities despite the
limitations of having six main characters in a half-hour show.

DVD Verdict
I can remember sitting in my old Iowa college dorm room as I thrilled to the antics of
these sitcom twenty-somethings. Boy, does that seem like a billion years ago. While I can't
really count myself as a diehard super-duper Friends fan, I did enjoy watching the show in
its early years. Maybe it was Matthew Perry's devilry. Or maybe Matt LaBlanc's dippy take on life.
Or maybe it was because Courtney Cox was a hottie.
