Lost TV Show is about
48 people that have survived a horrific plane crash in the South Pacific -- but they were 1,000 miles off course when it happened, so no one knows where they are. What's more the remote island is home to some mysterious things lurking in its interior.
The key to a TV show's success is character development, and Lost has tons of it. The writers make you feel like you know these people and are glad to invite them into your living room every Wednesday night.
There are things on and about the island that never seem to be fully explained. The metal hatch, the smoke, the french woman, the spooky creatures, etc. It is like a puzzle that never seems to be fully solved. The biggest challenge facing the writers is
to keep the suspense and mystery while not turning into a "day soap" that moves as slow as molasses.

Joe Critic
Lost is both completely original and appropriately familiar. It's Cast Away plus the dialogue, Gilligan's Island minus the laugh track, Survivor minus the reality and Lord of the Flies minus the killing. It's 60 minutes of quality television that has critics swooning and fans begging for more.

Pop Matters
TV's most ambitious new show wrapped up its inaugural season with a stellar two-hour episode that hit on all cylinders. It sustained the season's delicate calibration of character study and action, as the 40-odd survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 have been dealing all season with seeming miracles and certain terrors. The headcount has varied, as the show is famously unafraid to kill off heroes in service of story.

Hollywood Jesus
Once again, Wednesday night is one of the best television nights of the week, with several great shows going head to head. The latest hit is the show Lost from creator J.J. Abrams, who also created the shows Felicity and Alias, and who’s due to helm Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 3.
