New Girl TV Show is about Jess Day. After a bad break-up, Jess needs a new place. A Craigslist search leads her to a great loft…and three single guys. Jess moves in and learns to move on through her unique sense of self and the support of her new roommates. Her three new male roommates, Nick is the most grounded…and also the most jaded. A law school dropout, he spends most of his time hiding under his hoodie and tending bar. Schmidt is a young professional who’s obsessed with his own abs. Winston is an extremely competitive former athlete who doesn’t know what to do with his life, but whatever it is he wants to win it.
Pop Matters The promos for New Girl suggest that it’s something new or at least mildly unusual. But its first episode looks like more of the same. Renee Scolaro Mora
USA Today New Girl sets up a viable premise and introduces a strong set of supporting characters, which is just what you want from fall’s most promising new series. Robert Bianco
Chicago Sun-Times New Girl didn’t give me as many laugh-out-loud moments as some comedies. But the show delivered something extra that my favorite sitcoms often don’t: It made me feel warm and fuzzy. Lori Rackl
Los Angeles Times Viewers will come to see Deschanel but they’ll stay for the whole package because smart writing, confident timing and characters that are both familiar yet surprisingly fresh make New Girl the most promising comedy, and one of the most promising shows, of the season. Mary McNamara
