Chicago Sun-Times
Matthew McConaughey and Rene Russo are wonderful, too, in a movie with three well-written and fully functional roles, but their characters are by nature more contained than Pacino's.
Roger Ebert
The Boston Globe
"Two for the Money" is cooked from a tired "Wall Street" recipe. Take a hick from the sticks, drag him to the big city, introduce him to a guru, stir in sex, money, cigars, and two cups of testosterone, see the mixture rise, then hear it crash. Add sighs and eye-rolls, to taste.
Wesley Morris
San Francisco Chronicle
"Two for the Money" is big, loud, glossy and entertaining. It's a movie on the fringes of big-time sports gambling, but it's not a sports movie, nor a gambling movie. It's a classic Faustian bargain, but it's not really a moral tale either.
G. Allen Johnson
Cinema Blend
Two for the Money may be my leading candidate for the year's most mis-marketed film. The movie, which is advertised as a man’s rise and fall in the world of illegal sports gambling, actually manages to tell a story much deeper than that, giving Academy Award winner Al Pacino more scenes to brilliantly chew on then he’s had since Scent of a Woman.
